I wanted to burn shows to DVD without commercials. Commercial detection is great but occasionally either doesn't detect commerials, adds commercials that don't exist or misses the proper cuts by a few frames. Also, in order to skip commercials for export, you need to load the cutlist. Here's how:

• Start playing a show.
  
• Hit E to edit. You are now in edit mode.
  
• Hit Z to load the cutlist from detected commercials.
  
• Hit C/Q to clear your changes.
  
• Hit Enter for cutting options.
  
• Fine tune using tips below.
  
• Hit ? to save the marks for cutting.
  
• To actually make the cut you must transcode it. You can do this after saving your changes by getting out of edit mode, hitting M for menu and choosing job options. There you will find a transcode option.
  

Tips

• To move forward & back use the left or right arrows.
  

• To change the length moved forward or back use the up & down arrows. The length of time to move will be displayed in the lower right corner above the slider. The choices are cutpoint, keyframe, 1 frame, .5 seconds, 1 second, 5 seconds, 20 seconds, 1 minute and 5 minutes.
  

• In order to change a cutpoint you must press Enter (or equivalent) within 20 seconds of it. If you need to move it farther, move it 20 seconds at a time.
  

• If you mess up the cutlist too much, you can reload from the detected commercials by hitting Z.
  

• If you need to re-insert a detected commercial, position to the cutpoint at its beginning. Delete that cutpoint. Don't panic when it looks like you just edited out a bunch of the show, just move to the cutpoint at the end of the commercial and delete it, too.
  

• Hitting "q" will clear the cutlist. Don't hit it unless you mean to as it will undo your changes
